Sunset and sea fire (bioluminescent algae)

Sunset and sea fire (bioluminescent algae)

As the summer months draw to a close and the evenings grow darker, this mysterious phenomenon occurs. According to Greek mythology, it is the daughters of the sea god Nereus that we can see shining in the water.

We set out in the late afternoon and stop at a beautiful place where you are invited to an evening coffee and the opportunity for a wonderfully refreshing evening swim. Hopefully the sky will be clear and we can then paddle a bit out to the edge and watch the sun go down behind the horizon. When darkness falls, we set out on a search for the sea's own starry sky.

Our kayaks are very stable and easy to paddle. Even beginners are welcome!

(Of course we cannot guarantee that we will see fireflies but the location is well chosen and so far we have never been disappointed)

This includes:

  • Guide/instructor for the day
  • Nature guide about the marel fire as a phenomenon
  • Fully equipped kayak with paddle, canopy and life jacket
  • Headlamp
  • Coffee and buns

We are out for about 6 hours, of which about 3 - 4 hours is paddling time divided into two stages.
